Postpartum Care

“When we centre the well-being of mothers, we are also entering the well-being of the children- our future generations.”

Postpartum care is crucial in nurturing the well-being of mothersand all life. When we are able to support the health and wellbeing of our mothers, we are also doing so for our families. When our families are healthy and well, so are our communities. When we have healthy thriving communities we have the capacity to care and tend to the health of our Mother Earth.

Innate Traditions Postpartum Care was created to contribute to the thriving of all life— first beginning with the Mother. By prioritizing the health of mothers, we are fostering a cycle of wellness that extends to our environment. Innate Traditions Postpartum Care aims to support this holistic approach by honoring indigenous postpartum care principles that transcend cultural boundaries. During this sensitive postpartum phase, mothers have the chance to heal physically and emotionally, shaping their journey into motherhood and leaving a lasting impact on their children.

As a certified Innate Postpatum Care practitioner, it is my deepest honour to carry this beautifully rich legacy of traditional knowledge and offer it to my community. I firmly believe that communities are actively seeking individuals who possess the expertise needed to support and nurture life with compassion. In my role as a care provider, I approach my duties with a deep sense of commitment and reverence for the meaningful journey I undertake. My most sincere prayer is for every mother to receive the nurturance, care, acknowledgment, and encouragement they deserve in order to flourish both internally and externally. By doing so, we can ensure that our succeeding generations inherit the profound wisdom and heritage of those who preceded us, thus enabling them to flourish and mold a future that cherishes all forms of life.

I chose to become an Innate Postpartum care practitioner after reflecting on the gaps in my own postpartum experiences. Enduring a sense of unexplained yearning, my body faced challenges while recuperating from my initial childbirth, leaving me craving for an inexplicable solace. Encountering Rachelle’s teachings marked a significant turning point. This occurred after I had finished my comprehensive training under The Matrona to serve as a holistic birth doula. Captivated by the transformation Rachelle's approach brought within me, I realised it was the missing piece to provide the complete care I envisioned for mothers.

I provide specialized postnatal care packages tailored specifically to women, regardless of whether I served as their birth doula. These packages include comforting meals, holistic bodywork, emotional guidance, and various other supportive elements. The postpartum phase represents a deeply sensitive period for both the mother-baby bond and the overall family unit. Through this comprehensive approach to maternal well-being, my aim is to address a wide range of needs that enable mothers to undergo a restorative and empowering postpartum journey, where they are authentically supported, cherished, and acknowledged throughout the transformative process of childbirth.

Whether the birthing process occurs at home or in a hospital setting, the journey a mother undergoes can have a profound influence on her sense of empowerment or lead to lasting trauma. It is a deeply interconnected experience that is shaped by cultural postpartum traditions observed across the Earth. These rituals fundamentally revolve around recognising the sacredness of life and exist in various forms to honor and support new mothers with reverence, wonder, and sustenance.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the postpartum period is viewed as a crucial phase for rebirth, regeneration, and holistic healing encompassing the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. Within community, the practice of communal nurturing plays a pivotal role in shepherding women through this significant transition from being a maiden to embracing the exalted status of motherhood, with blessings and wisdom passed down from generation to generation.
